 Financial Freedom

What

Looks like for Me

Financial freedom, to me, is about more than just money—it’s about peace, choice, and alignment. It’s waking up without financial stress, having the ability to make decisions from a place of clarity instead of pressure, and knowing that my money is working for me, not against me. It means being able to support the life I desire, give back to others, and create opportunities without limitation. Financial freedom is feeling secure, confident, and in control, while still honoring growth, discipline, and purpose along the journey.

Financial freedom, to me, looks like living a life that feels aligned, secure, and effortlessly abundant. It means having the ability to invest in myself without hesitation—whether that’s maintaining my appearance, prioritizing my wellness, or enjoying the lifestyle I’ve worked hard to build.

It looks like walking into Diva International Salon, located in downtown San Francisco at 1 Market St, San Francisco, CA 94105, every two weeks, knowing I can consistently pour back into my confidence and self-care, and returning every 4–6 months for Monay Hair Cryotherapy treatments that restore and elevate my hair.

Financial freedom is not just about having money—it’s about having peace, structure, and the discipline to maintain a lifestyle that reflects my highest self, without stress or limitation. It’s the ability to move through life intentionally, knowing I am supported, prepared, and aligned with the life I truly desire.

Working Out

Taking care of my body is a non-negotiable part of my lifestyle and overall well-being. As a professor at San Francisco State University, I prioritize movement by walking around the track on campus, using that time to reset mentally, stay active, and remain grounded throughout my day.

I also invest in my physical health by working with a student personal trainer who helps me stay consistent, motivated, and aligned with my fitness goals. Choosing to work with a student trainer not only makes my routine more cost-effective, but it also allows me to stay committed to my wellness without compromising my financial priorities.

For me, wellness is not about perfection—it’s about consistency, discipline, and choosing to show up for myself daily. Prioritizing my health is a reflection of the life I am building: balanced, intentional, and fully supported.

Teaching and Other Ventures

My career is rooted in purpose, stability, and growth. As a professor at San Francisco State University, I’ve built a strong foundation through education—one that allows me to impact others while maintaining consistent income and structure in my life.

At the same time, I believe financial freedom comes from expanding beyond one source of income. That’s why I actively pursue additional ventures, including growing my bingo business. This allows me to tap into creativity, community, and entrepreneurship while creating new streams of revenue that support my long-term goals.

I also continue to invest in my growth and visibility by participating in opportunities like the Top 100 Most Powerful Black Women in Business Summit, where I connect with other leaders, expand my network, and stay aligned with spaces that empower and elevate Black women in business.

For me, it’s not about choosing one path—it’s about creating alignment between passion and practicality. Having multiple streams of income gives me flexibility, security, and the ability to build wealth on my own terms. It’s a reminder that I am not limited to one identity—I can be both an educator and an entrepreneur.
